How to download Ledger® Live
Ledger® Live is the official application to manage cryptocurrencies on Ledger® hardware wallets. Choose between Ledger® Live Desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) or Ledger® Live App (iOS and Android). Always download from the official Ledger® website or your device's app store to avoid fake installers. After download, follow the installer prompts, then open Ledger® Live and select “Get started.”
Ledger® Live wallet setup & login
Ledger® Live pairs with a physical Ledger® device. There is no cloud password — authentication happens via the device PIN and the recovery phrase stored offline. To login: connect your Ledger® device, unlock it with your PIN, and approve the connection on-device. Ledger® Live will then display your accounts and balances. Keep firmware and app versions current for the smoothest experience.
Troubleshooting Ledger® login issues
Common login and connection errors often come from cables, ports, firmware mismatch, or permissions (especially on macOS/Linux). Troubleshooting steps:
- Use the original or a data-capable USB cable and a different USB port.
- Ensure the Ledger® device is unlocked (PIN entered) and on the dashboard screen.
- Update Ledger® Live to the latest released version and update device firmware when prompted.
- On mobile, enable USB/OTG permissions or use Bluetooth only with supported devices.
If you see “Error connecting account,” restart Ledger® Live and your hardware, reattach the cable, and try again.
Can I use Ledger® Live with Trezor?
Ledger® Live and Trezor are separate ecosystems. You cannot pair a Trezor device with Ledger® Live or vice versa. If you use both devices, manage each with its official app (Ledger® Live for Ledger®, Trezor Suite for Trezor). You may monitor the same public addresses using different tools, but never export or share private keys or seed phrases between vendors.
Ledger® account recovery, 2FA & security notes
Recovery of a Ledger® account requires your recovery phrase (seed). Ledger® does not provide a password reset via email — there is no traditional 2FA for device unlock. If you lose your device, restore on a new Ledger® device (or compatible recovery tool) using your seed. Never enter the recovery phrase into a website or share it with anyone; Ledger® support will never ask for it.
When to contact Ledger® Help Center
Contact Ledger® Help Center if you encounter firmware errors, suspect a compromised device, or have unrecoverable hardware faults. Use official channels listed on Ledger®'s website — be wary of phishing support pages or fraudulent phone numbers.
Frequently asked questions
- 1. Where do I download Ledger® Live safely?
- From the official Ledger® website or official app stores — never from random links or emails.

- Try another USB cable/port, ensure the device is unlocked, update Ledger® Live and firmware, and restart both device and app.
- 3. Can Ledger® Live recover funds without my recovery phrase?
- No. Funds are recoverable only with the recovery phrase (seed). If lost, Ledger® cannot restore your funds.

- 5. Why can’t I use Ledger® Live with a Trezor device?
- They are incompatible; use each vendor’s official app to manage its hardware.
